So far 28 Palestinian dead, 67 wounded, including 20 children, and one IOF soldier dead.
Israel Radio and Army Radio said the army was checking the possibility that the Israeli soldier was killed by errant Israeli gunfire.
An Israeli colonel said there had been "stiff resistance."
I wonder if the Palestinians who for mysterious reasons resisted the zionist invasion and assault went so far as to use the F16s, the Apache helicopters and the missiles we are paying for.
Oh, no, never mind, I got confused: we are giving them to the Israelis.
Still, if there weas "stiff resistance" it means that the zionist army has proven once more how brave they are facing the awsome Palestinian army, equipped with the latest in killing technologuy and especially those all-powerful children and succeeding in killing them.

A Prescription for Mideast Peace: Get Tough With Israel

By Brigadier General James J. David rt.

A just solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict can only be achieved if U.S. policy is based upon American moral principles and a strict adherence to international law, which run counter to the continued Israeli occupation of Arab territory and the denial of basic rights and freedoms to Palestinians under Israeli military rule.

No peace initiative will ever succeed if it denies the Palestinians the liberty to which all people are entitled. Unfortunately, the U.S. has always been silent in the face of Israel's continuing occupation, obediently providing military, political and financial support which only strengthens Israel's belligerent posture towards its neighbors.

The confiscation of Arab land in order to build more Jewish settlements, the expulsion of Palestinians, their arrest and imprisonment, the systematic torture in the prisons, the assassination of political leaders, the total absence of due process, the demolition of homes, the uprooting of thousands of olive trees, the diversion to Israel of scarce water resources and the often indiscrimianst killing of men, women, and especially children are violations of international law and moral standards. Americans have a special responsibility to put a stop to these abuses because these abuses are unjust and because they are being carried out with our resources and with the military and political support of our government.

The United States has a responsibility to intervene in order to prevent hostitilities from occuring anywhere around the world or whenever human rights are being violated. But, it must do what is right based upon moral principles and not upon influences from special interest groups, political action committees or influential lobbyists. No rational dialogue is possible when those who dare to speak out are subjected to such intimidation that they fear for their political or professional lives.

A major obstacle to the establishment of such an American policy is the political influence wielded by the Israeli lobby. Supplementing the lobby's efficient pressure, pro-Israeli political action committees give more money to the campaigns of senators, congressmen and presidential candidates than any other single-issue lobby. Aggregate contributions by pro-Israeli individuals are even greater.

U.S. policy in the Middle East has been a failure. Its lopsided support of Israel is the main reason. It is not good for Israel to live beyond its means and be immune from criticism because of American protection. This unquestionable protection of Israel and our refusal to condemn this Jewish State no matter what violations of international law and human rights it commits only breeds terrorism. We Americans now see this terrorism on our own soil.

Read MORE:
June 26 WAWA Blog:
http://www.wearewideawake.org

www.aljazeerah.info
June 12, 2006

They Thirst for Water and Justice,
Eileen Fleming
http://www.wearewideawake.org

In the past year I have been to the occupied territories in the West Bank three times. I have spoken with hundreds of Palestinian Muslims and Christians, and a few members of Hamas.

I did NOT meet any terrorists. I did meet human beings who have lived under occupation for forty years. According to International Law, occupation is to be a temporary situation and maintain the status quo.

That is NOT the facts on the ground in Israel Palestine.

"During Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's recent visit to Washington, President Bush declared Olmert's "convergence" plan "bold." For Palestinians, however, it is disastrous, because it will annex much of the West Bank's water and fertile land to Israel." Fareed Taamallah, Coordinator for the Palestinian Central Election Commission for the district of Salfit in the West Bank. http://www.thenation.com/doc/20060626/taamallah posted June 9, 2006 The Nation

Orwellian double-speak has become the language of 21st century politicians. Olmert initially spoke about convergence, containment, and now it is re-alignment; a word that is NOT in the dictionary, but the others are and I consulted one in my attempts to understand 21st politicians., Convergence: is the act of converging and especially moving toward union or uniformity. Containment: is the act, process, or means of containing and also the policy, process, or result of preventing the expansion of a hostile power or ideology.

Contain: to keep within limits: RESTRAIN, CONTROL, CHECK, HALT, ENCLOSE, BOUND

Realignment is NOT in my Websters! Realign is and means to re-adjust alliances or working arrangements between or within countries or political parties.

Thus, Realignment is NOT just Orwellian double-speak; IT IS also truthness to the ninth degree.

Take a drive through the West Bank or consult a map of The Wall and the truth is Palestine is Swiss cheese and the Peace process is in pieces.

A two-state solution is impossible at this moment in time, but the facts on the ground are many and three will suffice for now:

1. There is one land that three religions claim is Holy. Thus, the land belongs to God.

2. When Israel became a state in 1948 it was contingent on upholding the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights for all the people of the land. America should be the loudest voice demanding Israel do it!

3. For those who believe God has made a real estate deal with the Jewish faith, may they demand that Israel then do what God required of them: "And he has already told you what that is man! Do Justice, Be Merciful and walk humbly with your God."-Micah 6:8

Olmert's realignment plan will bring about an Israeli withdrawal from some parts of the West Bank while it strengthens Israeli settlements-which in truth are colonies but spun as neighborhoods-
